All Day Fencing manufacture a range of solid timber gates to suit your home in Federation, Victorian, Colonial and modern designs. Our gates are built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery ensuring strength in all conditions. Constructed from treated and primed timbers, these gates are extremely durable, just add your colour!

Entrance Gates

Matching Driveway Gates. We can match your existing gates or design a gate around the features and period of your home. Driveway gates carry a heavy load and are generally in high use areas. It is suggested a steel frame is fitted to the rear of the gates to increase durability. Steel frames cannot be seen from the outside of the gate and come with a twenty year warranty!

Solid timber driveway gates can be manufactured up to 6' (1.8m) wide where hinged - and almost any length when fitted to sliding gate tracks and rollers! There are many considerations when choosing your new gate and fence design. What are your requirements? Are you trying to keep the kids in? ..are you looking to improve the street appeal? ..are you trying to block out road noise? ..do you seek privacy? ..wind protection or fire resistance?

Have you got the space for swing gates (gates that open inward?), remember this will reduce your space inside the gate area. You may choose to hinge the gates to form smaller folding sections or do you have room for a sliding gate?

Is the ground level, both across the gate opening and where the gate swings? The bottom of the gate should have a minimum 40mm clearance so the gate does not get stuck on stray rocks or sticks. If the ground level inside the fence is running uphill you will have to allow enough clearance for the gate to open.

Sliding Gates

We manufacture many custom gates including both panel and picket designs. Our gates are made from 42mm thick treated lumber. We can also construct your gates from 66mm or 92mm thick timber for oversized gates.

Timber Panel Gates

Solid Timber Panel Gates are 40mm thick with 16mm thick panels and can be made to many different shapes and sizes. Very strong these gates can be made from durable treated timbers, just add your colour!, or Australian hardwood supplied raw and ready for stain or varnish!

Panel gates are described by the number of panels in the gate.

Horizontal Slat Gates

Horizontal Slat Fencing can modernise the look of your home as well as adding privacy and good looks. Horizontal slat gates are manufactured to last on a 2" (50mm) square galvanised steel frame and secured by zinc coated tech screws. Each gate comes with steel reversible hinges and a lock plate.

SLAT DESIGNS MERBOU SLAT GATE MIXED SIZED SLATS

Slats are available in three common sizes, 42mm 66mm and 92mm wide. Other sizes can be custom made. The most common timbers for slat fencing is the treated and primed timber for painting, and the Western Red Cedar for the natural timber look.

Slat Gates can be lined on one side (single sided) or both sides (double sided). Single sided slat gates are 43mm thick including the frame. Double sided gates are 60mm thick.

Timber Finishes Available

We construct most gates from treated and primed timbers. Dressed and ready for colour! TP timber is durable and long lasting against the elements.

We can also construct your gates with select Australian hardwoods (extra depending on availability). Western Red Cedar is preferred as it is light and easy to stain.

Installation

The first step to installing your gates is to set the gate posts in position. Refer to the guide on footings and foundations supplied with your gate. ...view gate post designs

Once the posts are concreted in place, measure the horizontal distance betwen the posts (opening size) at the top and the bottom. Use the larger measurement as your gate can be trimmed if required. Allow 3/8" (10mm) clearance per side. Eg: for single gates deduct 3/4" (19mm), for double gates deduct 1" (25mm).
Height: Measure the height at each side of your gate. Deduct 1.1/2" (40mm) from the larger measurement for ground clearance. (allow more if the ground is not level).
